Text Banking

Free Text Banking1 is a fast, easy way to check your account balances and recent transactions. All you need is a mobile device that has text message (SMS) service enabled.

Simply text one of these simple commands to VACU’s short code 59851 to begin receiving account balances and recent transaction information.

Get Started in 2 Easy Steps

1. Enroll in online banking

To take advantage of our free mobile banking services2, you will first need to be enrolled in online banking

  • 2 Text Banking is free, but your mobile service provider may charge for sending and receiving text message. Check with your mobile service provider for details and specific charges that may apply for you.

2. Register Your Mobile Device

Sign up for Text Banking using online banking or mobile web. Here's how to register using mobile web:

  • Logon to mobile web using your online banking user ID & password by visiting vacu.org on your mobile device.
  • Select “Text Banking” from the menu.
  • Complete the on-screen activation instructions (make sure to have your mobile phone handy)

Text Banking Tips

  • Add 59851 to your list of mobile contacts to save time
  • Text messages are not case sensitive
  • If you send a text from outside the U.S., you may incur roaming fees; check with your carrier for details
  • If your device is lost or stolen, or there are changes to your wireless carrier provider or mobile number, logon to Online Banking to cancel or edit your Text Banking service

Will it cost me anything to use Text Banking?

Text Banking is free from VACU, but your mobile service provider may charge for sending and receiving text messages. Check with your provider for details and specific charges that may apply for you.

Is it secure?

Text Banking does not send any User IDs, passwords or account numbers as part of the service.

Where do I text my account inquiries?

Send your requests to 59851. You may want to add that to your list of mobile contacts to save time.

What account abbreviations are used?

Abbreviation Account
C1 Checking Account
S1 Savings Account
L1 Loan Account

If you have more than one of each account type, you will have other numbers after the account type, for example, S1 and S2 if you have two savings accounts.

Can I register more than one mobile phone for Text Banking?

Yes, you can register up to 2 mobile phones for Text Banking.

How do I unsubscribe from Text Banking?

Just send the command STOP to 59851 and you will immediately be unsubscribed.

I've lost my phone. What should I do?

You may deactivate your Text Banking service through the mobile banking tab within online banking. You may also contact Member Services at (804) 323-6800 or (800) 285-6609.
