With mobile deposits from Virginia Credit Union, you can snap a pic, make a deposit, and save yourself a trip to the branch or the mailbox.

To get started, download our free mobile banking app from the Apple App Store℠? or Google Play™?. Using the camera on your device? , simply take a photo of your check and upload it. Our mobile deposits are free? , safe, secure and available 24/7—so you can take control of your finances any time, any place.

Here's how it works

  • After downloading the VACU mobile  app, log in and select Mobile Deposit 
  • Choose the savings or checking account where you want to deposit your check
  • Enter the dollar amount of the deposit?
  • Sign the back of your check AND write "For Mobile Deposit at VACU" under your signature
  • Take a photo of the front and back of your endorsed check
  • Make sure the information you’ve entered is correct before you hit "Submit"

Your check information will be securely transmitted to VACU for deposit. Mobile Deposits are typically posted to your account on the first business day after the day your mobile deposit is received. Processing occurs twice daily, after 11 am and after 4 pm on business days.

Please do not discard or void the original check for 30 days or until the deposit appears on your monthly statement.

What is Mobile Deposit?

With VACU’s Mobile Deposit, you can electronically deposit checks with an iPhone or Android device that has a camera by using our Mobile Banking app. Simply snap photos of the front and back of your endorsed check to make deposits into your VACU account. Mobile Deposit is not available with first and second generation iPads.

When will my deposit be credited to my account?

If the deposit is accepted, funds are usually posted to your account the next business day. Please note that deposit amounts may be adjusted up to 2 business days after a deposit is made. Processing occurs twice daily, after 11 am and after 4 pm on business days.

How will I know when my check has been deposited?

The quickest way to verify your deposit is to go into Online Banking and see the deposit credited to your account.

What is the maximum amount that I can deposit using mobile deposit?

With mobile deposit, you can deposit up to $3,500 in checks daily. If you have to deposit check amounts that exceed $3,500, please visit a VACU branch or Envelope-Free ATM.

Are there any types of check that cannot be submitted using mobile deposit?

Only single-party domestic checks made payable to the owner of the account may be scanned for deposit with mobile deposit. The following items cannot be submitted for deposit with mobile deposit:

  • Checks payable to a business or estate
  • Items stamped with “non-negotiable”
  • Post-dated or stale-dated checks
  • Incomplete checks – checks missing any required information
  • Third party checks – checks payable to someone else, endorsed and signed over to you
  • Foreign checks – checks payable to you and drawn on a financial institution in another country
  • Altered checks – checks that contain evidence of alteration to information on the face
  • Checks purported to be a lottery or prize winning
  • VACU checks drawn on your account
  • Checks previously submitted for deposit

What do I do if my check is rejected in mobile deposit?

Please double check the following:

  • Your check photos are clear and legible; be sure that there are no shadows on the check, the check is not excessively wrinkled, the image is not blurry from “camera shake” and the writing is contained within the relevant spaces on the check
  • You have positioned the check against a dark or contrasting background
  • The MICR line (the bottom part of the check that includes your account number and the bank routing number) is visible
  • The check number, payee, endorsement, numeric amount, written amount and MICR line are all readable
  • You have a strong signal; using a secure WiFi connection may improve your transmission success

If the check continues to be rejected, bring it to a VACU branch or Envelope-Free ATM or mail it to us for deposit.
