California Consumer Privacy Act Disclosure

Effective January 1, 2023

The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) requires businesses to provide notice of their data collection and sharing practices in regard to California residents. This CCPA Disclosure applies to California residents only and is an extension of VACU’s existing privacy policies and notices.

This Disclosure does not apply to certain personal information that may be subject to other state or federal privacy laws. Information that we collect about individuals who seek, apply for, or obtain our financial products and services for personal, family, or household purposes would be subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and is referred to in our Privacy Notice.

Effective January 1, 2023, the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) amends and expands existing provisions of the CCPA and creates additional provisions.

Sale of Personal Information

VACU has not sold or shared your personal or sensitive personal information in the last 12 months. Since VACU does not sell your personal information, we do not offer an opt-out under the CCPA.

Consumer Rights Under CCPA

  • If you are a California resident, you have the right to the following, upon receipt of a verifiable consumer request:
    • Request that we disclose the following information covering the twelve months preceding your request (“request to know”):
      • The categories of your personal information we collected, shared, or sold;
      • The categories of sources from which your personal information is collected, shared, or sold;
      • The business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing your personal information;
      • The categories of third parties we have disclosed your personal information to; and
      • The specific pieces of personal information we have collected, shared, and sold about you.
    • Request that we delete the personal information we’ve collected from you, under certain circumstances (“request to delete”).
    • Request that we correct any of your inaccurate personal information (“request to correct”).

How to Make Requests

  • If you are a California resident and would like to exercise the rights described above, please submit your verifiable consumer request form by:
    • Mailing a notarized copy to Virginia Credit Union, P.O. Box 90010, Richmond, VA 23225-9010.
    • In-person submission at a Virginia Credit Union branch.
  • You may also call us toll-free at 800-285-6609 to submit a request.

In some instances, we may not be able to honor your request. For example, we will not honor a request if we cannot verify your identity or if you do not have the authority to make a request on behalf of another individual. Additionally, we may not honor your request where an exception applies, such as the information we maintain about you not being subject to CPRA’s rights.

For any questions or concerns regarding the CCPA and VACU’s request process, please call us at 800-285-6609.
