News & Events Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Email VACU Partners with Local Brewery to Support Habitat for HumanityApril 12, 2019 | Richmond, VA Virginia Credit Union is partnering with local brewer Three Notch’d to produce a specialty beer to benefit Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity.The beer, in production since early April, will be released on Friday, April 26, at a special VACU Beer Release Party held from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Three Notch’d RVA Collab House in Scott’s Addition, 2930 W. Broad Street, Suite B, Richmond 23230.At the release party, Virginia Credit Union will make a $5,000 up-front contribution to Habitat for Humanity. In addition, $2 from the sale of every beer that night will benefit Habitat. Three Notch’d will donate $1 from every pint sold and Virginia Credit Union will make an additional $1 matching gift.The beer, “A Hoppy Home,” is a New England style IPA brewed in Richmond by the Three Notch’d RVA Collab House. Three Notch’d Brewery frequently partners with local organizations on specialty beers.Virginia Credit Union envisioned the collaboration as a way to encourage its members and social media followers to support Habitat for Humanity through a fun, “very-Richmond” type of event, explained Danny Swanson, Senior Multimedia Content Producer at Virginia Credit Union who came up with the concept.“This combines the popularity of Richmond’s beer scene with a truly great cause,” said Chris Shockley, Virginia Credit Union President/CEO. “Affordable, safe housing is such an important need and we are proud to support Habitat in this way.”Richmond Habitat for Humanity makes affordable and safe housing a reality for hundreds of low-income families with the help of donations, volunteers, proceeds ReStore sales, and hard work from home buyers.
