Yes, to apply, students must be members of Virginia Credit Union or our Member One division by March 1, 2026. What are the requirements to apply? You’re eligible if you have a 2.5 GPA or higher, are enrolled in an accredited college or university for the coming academic year, and have been a member of Virginia Credit Union or our Member One division on or before March 1, 2026. If my parent is a member and I'm a joint owner on their account, am I eligible to apply for the Virginia Credit Union scholarship program? To be eligible, you must have your own membership account. Consider joining now and applying for the scholarship program before the March 1, 2026 deadline. Applicants must be 18 to become a member online; those under 18 must apply at a branch. I'm a graduate student. Am I eligible for a Virginia Credit Union scholarship? The scholarship program was established to help student members working toward their first degree, so only students seeking undergraduate degrees are eligible to apply. Is there an age limit for Virginia Credit Union scholarship applicants? No, there are no age restrictions for applicants. Virginia Credit Union members and members of our Member One division who are pursuing their first undergraduate degree may apply. How many credit hours per semester do I need to take to qualify for a Virginia Credit Union scholarship? You must be taking or planning to take at least nine (9) credit hours per semester at an accredited college or university. As a previous Dorothy J. Hall Memorial Scholarship recipient, am I eligible to apply for the Virginia Credit Union scholarship? The Virginia Credit Union scholarship program is a one-time award, and previous recipients are not eligible. I belong to another credit union other than Virginia Credit Union or Member One. Are there other credit union scholarships for which I may qualify? If you're a high school senior, you may want to check with your own credit union or look into the Richmond Chapter of Credit Unions Scholarship. You may be eligible to join Virginia Credit Union or our Member One Division. If you're not yet a member, consider joining now so you'll be eligible to apply for the Virginia Credit Union scholarship program in the future. Are the children of Virginia Credit Union employees, board members, or official credit union volunteers eligible for the scholarship? No, sorry. VACU employees, directors, committee members, other official credit union volunteers, and their family members are not eligible. Can previous winners of the scholarship apply again? Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive the scholarship a second time. How will I know if I’ve won a scholarship? All applicants are notified via email whether they win one of the VACU scholarships or not. We use the email address you used to submit your application.
