VACU to Award $75,000 in Scholarships to 30 Student Members

Virginia Credit Union will award $75,000 in college scholarships for 2021–2022 to 30 student members through the annual Virginia Credit Union Scholarship Program.

Virginia Credit Union has provided $1.3 million in scholarships to student members since the program was established in 1991. Virginia Credit Union established the program to help members working toward their first undergraduate degree. The program honors Dot Hall and Jane Watkins, former presidents of Virginia Credit Union.

Students selected for the $2,500 scholarships will be recognized for scholastic achievement, community service, extracurricular activities, an essay, and work to help cover the cost of their education. The deadline to apply for one of the 30 scholarships is March 1, 2021. The application is now available.

In spring 2021, a panel of judges will select winners from an applicant pool of rising college freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors. To be eligible to apply, students must be members of Virginia Credit Union who joined before December 1, 2020.

A financial cooperative serving more than 300,000 members, Virginia Credit Union offers a variety of affordable banking services, loans, mortgages, and free financial education resources, with a focus on helping people be more confident with their finances. Virginia Credit Union is an equal housing opportunity lender and is federally insured by NCUA.
