VACU to Award $75,000 in Scholarships to 30 Student Members

Virginia Credit Union will award $75,000 in college scholarships for 2020 – 2021 to 30 student members through the annual Virginia Credit Union Scholarship Program.

Virginia Credit Union has provided $1.25 million in scholarship support to student members since the scholarship program was established in 1991. Virginia Credit Union established the program to help members working toward their first undergraduate degree. The program honors Dot Hall and Jane Watkins, former presidents of Virginia Credit Union.

Students selected for the $2,500 scholarships will be recognized for scholastic achievement, community service, extracurricular activities, an essay, and work to help cover the cost of their education. The deadline to apply for one of the 30 scholarships is March 2, 2020. The online scholarship application form is now available.

In spring 2020, a panel of judges will select winners from an applicant pool of rising college freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors. To be eligible to apply, students must be members of Virginia Credit Union and must have joined before December 1.

A financial cooperative serving more than 285,000 members, Virginia Credit Union offers a variety of affordable banking services, loans, mortgages, and free financial education resources, with a focus on helping people be more confident with their finances. Virginia Credit Union is an equal housing opportunity lender and is federally insured by NCUA.
