VACU to Award $150,000 in Scholarships to 30 Student Members

Virginia Credit Union will provide 30 scholarships to student members in 2023, and the credit union has increased the amount of each award to $5,000 in recognition of the growing cost of higher education for its members.

Virginia Credit Union has provided more than $1.5 million in scholarships to student members since the program was established in 1991. Next year, the total amount of the awards will reach $150,000.

Virginia Credit Union established the program to help members working toward their first undergraduate degree.

Students selected for the $5,000 scholarships will be recognized for scholastic achievement, community service, extracurricular activities, an essay, and work to help cover the cost of their education. The deadline to apply for one of the 30 scholarships is March 1, 2023. The online scholarship application form is now available. 

In Spring 2023, a panel of judges will select winners from the applicant pool of rising college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. To be eligible to apply, students must be members of Virginia Credit Union and submit their completed application by March 1.
