VACU, FredNats Strike Out Hunger with Support for Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank

Check presentation at the FredNats stadium

Virginia Credit Union and the Fredericksburg Nationals presented two checks for $5,540 to the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank to help strike out hunger Wednesday evening.

The contributions are the first for the Strike Out Hunger effort in the Fredericksburg Region. Together, Virginia Credit Union and the FredNats are helping the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank fight hunger by providing thousands of meals to those in need in the Central Rappahannock Region.

The contributions are based on $5 per strike out, so the amount will continue to grow. A final tally of strike outs will determine the final amount at the conclusion of the baseball season. In addition, Virginia Credit Union plans to continue the Strike Out Hunger program in future years.

In recent weeks, employees of Virginia Credit Union and the FredNats have supported the Food Bank by volunteering in the Food Bank’s warehouse, community kitchen and other programs.

Virginia Credit Union has a similar program with the Richmond Flying Squirrels to support Feed More in Richmond.

A financial cooperative serving more than 320,000 members, Virginia Credit Union offers a variety of affordable banking services, loans, mortgages, and free financial education resources, with a focus on helping people be more confident with their finances. Virginia Credit Union is an equal housing opportunity lender and is federally insured by NCUA.
