Virginia Credit Union's Jessica Barile Recognized as Top In- House Counsel by Virginia Lawyers Weekly, Virginia Business

Virginia Credit Union’s Jessica Barile is among an elite group of corporate attorneys recently honored with an inaugural In-House Counsel Award presented by Virginia Lawyers Weekly and Virginia Business.

As Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the $7 billion Richmond-based credit union, Barile provides legal counsel across multiple areas critical to the organization's operations. Her responsibilities include reviewing contracts and business agreements, managing litigation, addressing member services issues, and overseeing regulatory compliance. She also supports VACU's strategic initiatives by ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while the credit union continues to grow and serve its 500,000 members.

"Jessica's legal acumen and technical skills are only part of her contributions at the credit union," said VACU President/CEO Chris Shockley. "She has also played an invaluable role in the credit union's growth and expansion due to her deep knowledge of our operations and business, as well as her engagement in helping us shape business strategy."

A 2014 graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law, Barile joined VACU in 2017 after working in the mortgage industry.

Virginia Lawyers Weekly and Virginia Business created the In-House Counsel Awards to recognize in- house attorneys at all levels who navigate complex contract negotiations, represent their companies in high-stakes litigation, protect their organizations' most important assets, and serve as leaders in Virginia's legal community. The In-House Counsel Awards were presented on Nov. 7.
