VACU Introduces On/Off Feature for Cardholders

Virginia Credit Union has added a feature to online and mobile banking that gives its members greater control over their debit and credit cards.

The Card On/Off feature enables VACU card holders to turn on or off their card for free. The feature gives peace of mind to those who fear they may have lost or temporarily misplaced their card.

“With either online banking or the VACU mobile banking app, users can avoid that moment of panic,” explains Joe Lovasz, vice president for cards and payments at Virginia Credit Union. “They can simply turn the card on or off and relax.”

The new feature is fully available to any of VACU’s debit and credit cardholders, and member communication began earlier this summer. To use the service, members will need to enroll for the service within online banking or the mobile banking app. While there, members may also enroll to manage credit card alerts, manage their eStatements, or contact the credit union to report fraudulent transactions or lost, stolen or damaged cards.

A financial cooperative serving more than 265,000 members, Virginia Credit Union offers a variety of affordable banking services, loans, mortgages, and free financial education resources, with a focus on helping people be more confident with their finances. Virginia Credit Union is an equal housing opportunity lender and is federally insured by NCUA.
