News & Events Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Email Mary Fehrens is VACU’s Teacher of the QuarterFebruary 26, 2019 | Richmond, VAMary Fehrens, an economics and personal finance teacher at Riverbend High School in Spotsylvania County, has been named a recipient of Virginia Credit Union’s Teacher of the Quarter award program.The program recognizes K-12 teachers who teach economics and personal finance in Virginia. In appreciation of her work, Fehrens won $250 from Virginia Credit Union.Fehrens thrives by bringing her instruction alive through real-world examples, says Sue Venable Shelton, a fellow teacher who nominated her. She relies on information from industry or personal experiences and is a lifelong learner who stays current to consumer and business trends.Spotsylvania County uses the W!SE Financial Literacy Industry Certification assessment.
