Contribution to FeedMore represents 25,000 meals
(Richmond, VA – August 11, 2014) Virginia Credit Union is contributing food and approximately $5,000 to support FeedMore through the StriKeout Hunger program with the Richmond Flying Squirrels.
VACU is contributing funds, food, and raising attention and support for FeedMore by making a $5 donation for every strikeout thrown by a Richmond Flying Squirrels pitcher during the 2014 season. Virginia Credit Union and FeedMore will mark the program with a check presentation at the Flying Squirrels’ home game on Thursday, August 21.
"Thanks to Virginia Credit Union's generous gift of $5,000, FeedMore is able to provide 25,000 meals to feed hungry children and families throughout Central Virginia's 36 cities and counties. We are extremely grateful for the Credit Union's continuing support over the past 15 years and proud of our partnership with them and the Richmond Flying Squirrels," said Tim McDermott, FeedMore's chief development officer.
As of August 11, the number of strikeouts thrown by Richmond Flying Squirrels pitchers stood at 849. With 21 games remaining, the final number is expected to top 1,000 strikeouts by season’s end.
