VACU Teen Money Camp featured in Richmond Times-Dispatch
A money camp for teens offered by Virginia Credit Union in July was the subject of a Richmond Times-Dispatch feature on August 3, 2014.
The article, “Econ 101: Financial tips for teens,” highlighted the week-long Teen Money Camp at the Richmond Public Library, held July 21 – 25, 2014.
Students in the camp learned about saving, spending and budgeting, credit, and major purchases such as a house or car. In addition, the students practiced making a realistic budget based on the average salary for a job or career they were randomly assigned. The instructor for the camp was Virginia Credit Union financial education director Cherry Hedges.
