Teaming Up to Help Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU

(Richmond, VA, November 2, 2018) – Virginia Credit Union will once again make an assist to Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU with a little help from the VCU Rams.

Under the ”Virginia Credit Union Assists” program, Virginia Credit Union will contribute to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN) for every assist the VCU Rams men’s and women’s basketball teams make during the 2018-2019 season.

The men’s season begins Nov. 6 with a game against Gardner-Webb University. The women’s season starts the same day with a road game vs. the College of William and Mary.

As a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU provides a full range of pediatric services for children. Over the last four years, Virginia Credit Union and its employees have contributed more than $125,000 to advance pediatric health services through support for research, training, and uncompensated care.

The credit union’s support for the hospital will be shared via live announcements at home games and on air through the credit union’s sponsorship as the Official Financial Partner of VCU RAMsTV.

Virginia Credit Union employees chose Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU as one of the charities they would support with fundraising and volunteer activities. “There’s a reason our program is tied to assists,” explains Chris Shockley, Virginia Credit Union President/CEO. “When a player makes an assist on the court, he or she helps a teammate to succeed. That’s what we try to do for our members and the community.”

A financial cooperative serving more than 270,000 members, Virginia Credit Union offers a variety of affordable banking services, loans, mortgages, and free financial education resources, with a focus on helping people be more confident with their finances. Virginia Credit Union is an equal housing opportunity lender and is federally insured by NCUA.
