E-mail Scams
Fraudulent Virginia Credit Union E-mails
Be alert for various fraudulent e-mails pretending to come from Virginia Credit Union. Members and non-members are reporting they are receiving different types of fraudulent e-mails.
Remember: Virginia Credit Union will never ask you
to provide, update or verify personal or account information (social
security number, member number, PIN, credit or debit card numbers,
etc.) through unsolicited e-mail.
Scam artists are using many different techniques to trick consumers so please be very cautious.
One example is addressed "Dear Customer" and asks recipients to click on a link to read a message, and then to log in to a bogus site that resembles the Virginia Credit Union Home Banking site.
These e-mails are scams!
- DO NOT follow the instructions in the message.
- DO NOT click
on the link in the message.
- DO NOT enter any information.
- Please forward the message to us at reportabuse@vacu.org and then DELETE the message from your mailbox.
If you received the message and if
you provided your account information, immediately contact Member Services or your financial institution to report your account information
as stolen.
