Home Banking User Guide

Banking — Home Banking

Home Banking gives you convenient access to your accounts from home, the office or on the road. It's safe, private, convenient and free for Virginia Credit Union members. No special software is required. All you need is an IBM-compatible or Macintosh computer, an Internet connection, and a secure browser with 128-bit encryption.

Banking Menu

Account Summary tells you the account number and account type of the accounts you use with Home Banking. You can sort this list by any of the headings: Account, Type, Current Balance or Available Balance. There are two view options available:

  • Account History – Review the details of an account by clicking on the account number.
  • Current Balance – Shows the available and actual balance for the account.

You can make immediate fund transfers between accounts using the Quick Transfer menu on the Account Summary page.

Transfer Funds offers three types of transfers:

  • Immediate – A transfer is attempted immediately. You are notified if the transfer is successful while you are online.
  • One-time – A transfer is made once on a date you specify.
  • Automatic – A transfer occurs as often and as many times as you specify.

More about transfers:

  • Transfers that are made on future dates which you specify are “scheduled transfers.” These transfers may be either one time or automatic.
  • The first transfer date may be no more than 18 months in the future.
  • Scheduled transfers are processed on the scheduled date. Transfers scheduled for non-business dates (such as holidays or weekends) are processed on the next business day for one-time transfers and on the previous business day for automatic transfers.

Loan Advance lets you make an advance on a line of credit and transfer the desired amount to any account you use with Home Banking.

Loan Payment allows you to make a loan payment from any account you use with Home Banking.

Scheduled Transfers lets you review one-time or automatic transfers or cancel a transfer before it occurs. You can also change information depending on the type of scheduled transfer:

  • One-time transfer – You can change the amount and date of the transfer.
  • Automatic transfer – You can change the amount, next transfer date, number of transfers, and transfer frequency. The changes affect all future transfers.

If you want to change the account to transfer FROM or TO, you must cancel the transfer and set it up correctly. An immediate transfer takes place the instant you confirm it, so it cannot be modified or canceled afterward.

Transfer History provides the details of transfers you’ve made. You have several ways to select which transfer(s) you want to review. If you don’t specify any criteria, you get all available transfer history. If you specify:

  • Account number – You receive all transfers for that account.
  • Transfer dates – You receive transfer history from the start date to the end date.
  • Transfer amount – You receive all transfers within plus or minus $10 of the specified amount.

If you want to direct the search to a more restricted list of past transfers, specify a combination of transfer details.

eStatements is a free, optional service that allows you to view your account statements online instead of receiving paper statements in the U.S. mail. As many as 12 months of statements are available. Use our online eStatement enrollment form to sign up for this service.
