  • List of emergency contacts
  • Have a medical card with you if you have allergies to any medication or have a condition that requires special attention
  • Pens or pencils
  • Paper or a note pad
  • Flashlight and extra batteries
  • Flares or reflective triangles
  • First-aid kit
  • A distress sign
  • Bottled water
  • Granola or energy bars
  • Blanket
  • Jumper cables
  • Rag or paper towels
  • Trash bag
  • Disposable camera
  • Books and games, if you often travel with children
