Important Information about Overdraft Changes

Your action is needed if you want VACU to pay overdrafts on ATM & everyday debit card transactions

Federal regulations require banks and credit unions to seek an account holders authorization to assess fees to pay for ATM and everyday debit card transactions. Everyday debit card transactions are routine day to day transactions, such as paying for groceries.

What are the BENEFITS of authorizing VACU to pay overdrafts on ATM & everyday debit card transactions?

  • No cost to you if you don’t overdraw your account
  • Can serve as a backup to Overdraft Protection transfers from savings or a line of credit (those overdraft transfers would occur first)
  • Reduces the risk of having transactions, like paying for groceries, declined if you make an inadvertent error in your checking records or are late making a deposit
  • Helpful in case of emergencies 

What ACTION do you need to take?

  • If you DO want VACU to consider authorizing and paying overdrafts on ATM and everyday debit card transactions, tell us right away

  • If you DO NOT want VACU to consider paying overdrafts on ATM and everyday debit card transactions, no action on your part is needed. These transactions, such as buying groceries may be declined if you do not have sufficient funds in your account or other accounts you have designated for Overdraft Protection transfers.
