It's easy to join the credit union. Once you know you're eligible to join, simply follow these steps to open your accounts. You may join in person at any Virginia Credit Union branch location or by mail. If you are mailing your application, please send it along with your deposit(s).
- Complete a Membership/Account Application. You can download an application from our site or fill one out at a branch.
- Open your membership with a $5 deposit. This represents your one share in the ownership of the credit union. A separate Member Share account is used to hold only your $5 membership deposit.
- Apply for services such as savings, checking, loans or credit cards.
- To open a regular savings account, deposit any amount. Dividends are paid on balances of $100 or more and members under age 23 earn dividends on all balances.
- To open a checking account, deposit $20 or more.
- To apply for a loan or credit card, print and complete a credit application (PDF). You may also apply online or by phone once you’ve received your member number.
